Makes scene to me. The V6 is the base model, the commoners mustang. The 16yr old girls Mustang. The RENTAL Mustang.
You want performance oriented seats get the performance oriented Mustang an EcoBoost.

I see that just seems odd considering the old one had the option. Also it would not cost anything to give the option, if anything I see no downside to having the option.

Come one... Any buyer who wants the Recaros is going to pick the Ecoboost or the V8 anyway, lets be honest here.

It gives people a reason to pony up to the better engines.

They'll change it at exactly the same time they drop the V6, or drop the V8 and turbo the V6.

The V6 can't get the performance package either. They are bringing back the rental trim. They finally made it acceptable for gearheads to get the V6 and now they are taking that away. The cheapest gearhead Mustang now is the base ecoboost manual with performance package setting you back $28,000.

Man and I kinda liked these new 6 pots. Little exhaust work and a tune and they weren't half bad engines

I actually really liked the six pot too. I could never argue in favor of the V8 Mustang over the V8 Camaro because at the end of the day I'm a bowtie guy and I like the engineering of the LS better than whatever Ford is calling their DOHC stuff these days. The V6 though I had a hard time arguing against because of how much lighter it was than any Mustang and could be had with the track pack for almost the same price as a base Camaro. Now the Ecoboostang with the track pack is nearing V8 Camaro price.
I mean just look at them
Vs.
$5,000 extra gets a V8 Camaro. Granted that's about the same as a V8 Mustang but personally I'd rather have the Camaro. Especially seeing as their is no significantly cheaper or lighter option now.

If we're talking cross brand I got nothing but love and respect for chevy motors. Just never liked their cars as a whole. Coyote 5.0 is cool, but it's LS or bust
As far as the ecoboost, your "what can you have for less" article pretty much sums it up perfectly. The price is just too damn high considering what it's going against, even in ford's own stable (FiST and FocuST). I'll be amazed if an I4 mustang somehow sells enough to be kept alive by 2020. Or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't see the advantage of a civilian engine and two performance engines, and THEN whatever gets tagged as a cobra.
Whatever, juts drop an LS into a new edge and call it a day. Heresy? Probably, but FUN heresy, and a whole lot cooler than a longitudinal I4 'muscle car'

Car Heresy can be pretty fun. I've been thinking about buying a 60's stang and putting an LS in it. One, to bug Ford guys and two, because I think there is a better aftermarket for suspension stuff for the Mustang but I want that LS power.
As for the new Mustang engine lineup if you just take into account that the V6 really was not supposed to exist it makes a lot more sense. The Ecoboostang is the new base model and the primary goal their was fleet economy for Ford. Also this will be the big one pushing for sales in Europe.
